Why is it that whenever I see other Corvettes in warm, nice weather conditions the top is always on? Seriously in all my years of seeing C5s and other gens the targa is ALWAYS on. When I had my last car the targa was hardly ever on. Thanks to the construction of the C5 frame, chassis flex is eliminated so I figured was it just because some people thought it was cumbersome to take off and put back on? Doesn't seem that way to me. Three clips, less than one minute and your done. When summer comes round you'll see my car topless as long as it is not raining or too heavily overcast.

Yep, it's a mood thing, down here when it's 98-deg, and the humidity is 100%, I prefer the A/C kicking, but in the 60s-70s I'll tend to take it off, but it's really a preference thing.
I keep mine off as much as possible. In September, my wife and I took a 2500 mile trip to the east coast and back. We carried 2 sets of golf clubs and enough luggage for 2 weeks and I was still able to lay the top on top of all that. We had it off for at least 2/3 of the trip and averaged 31 mpg in the process.

I have both tops and have never used the glass top, I keep the painted one on all the time, I think maybe I have taken it off 2 times. If I was into having the top off I would of bought a vert.
jmo.

When I driving my 1979 Z/28 T-Top I never had the top in. With the Vette I never take mine out. I don't like squiting because of sun and burning my thin hair scalp and the wind noise. Wind noise never seemed to be an issue in the Camaro
Some people want a convertible, some want a coupe. With the coupe, you have a choice -- plus more security with the top on.
The top comes off?? Wow!
Seriously, I agree with the above. Just because a top is removable doesn't mean everyone wants to do so. And some fear that the on and off thing will lead to leaks.
I had my top out most of last summer. Even in 90+ degree weather. I love the feeling of open-air driving, but didn't want the vert. To me, the targa top coupe gives me the best of both worlds.
And I like how I can change the looks of the car by switching from the black glass top to the white painted solid top.
And when I really want the wind in my face, I'll hop on the Harley!
But, you're right. I don't see many coupes with the top off, or many verts with the top down.
I like to drive with the roof off, but the wind turbulence beats the hell out of me. It’s bearable at low speeds, but not very comfortable on the highway. So most of the time I drive with the top on and the AC blowing.

Ya didn't see mine then. There was a six-week period in the early fall that I didn't have the top on once. But when it's too hot or cold the top is sometimes on.
The best times is around dusk on a nice summer evening with the top off. Ahhhh.
Between 50 and 85 with no rain, my top will be resting in the trunk. I am a fan of the fresh air and dont think the wind noise is unbearable. As long as you enjoy your vette top on or off just drive it.
My top is always off in the summer, i never use the red one and have never had it one the car. I always carry my glass one with me in case I should need it. I need to get me one of those soft tops for parking from Chip at CCA
Thats why i love the coupe, you have open air but yet you can put the top back on for security, I would say rain but since i have had the car its never seen rain
I had ot post a pic to remind myself of what a nice sunny day with the top off looks like, since it will be awhile to have that kind of weather again
