About using Dex-Cool for 5 years without changing - I wouldn't I'd change after 3 years or 50,000 miles. I had the headbolts pull out of my Northstar with 5 year old Dex-Cool...
I had the headbolts pull out of my Northstar with 5 year old Dex-Cool...
What do you mean by pull out?
I will NOT be putting Dex Cool when the time comes, I will use Prestone yellow jug and before I get flamed read the container it has the additives for Aluminum engines. I had problems with Dex Cool in my 02 Grand AM and 03 GMC (sludge), the Vette currently is fine but simply stated I will not be refilling it with Dex Cool purely based on my experience. As a side note the Pontiac had lower intake gasket trouble due to the crappy design which probably caused the problems but the GMC does not have problems and only has 6K miles both care were purchased new.
On my work truck I didthat I drained the dex and used new green. Its been nothing but rust issues sticking thermostats, and all sorts of cooling problems.Drain asap.
