Default Engine weights question

Anybody know the weight difference between an aluminum block 402 and an iron block? I just had an iron block 402 put in to replace my forged 347 and A&A procharger set-up and the car seems nose heavy. I would have thought the weight difference between the blocks would be offset by losing the blower setup and the associated equipment.

tia for the help,
Jim

Based on this site, you probably added at least 100 pounds to your front end ... did you use Aluminum or Iron heads ?? You probably added 150 pounds over you previous set-up would be my GUESS.

They say it's 100 lbs more. I am putting an iron block in soon as well. I don't know about a supercharger setup but I heard a twin turbo setup is 150 lbs so I can't see a supercharger being much more than 60 or so.

How does it feel? Really bad?

Yeah, but that's 100 pounds savings compared to an LQ4/LQ9 ... and that LQ4/LQ9 is about 100 pounds heavier than the LSx engine he changed out ... so there's about 200 pounds ... knock off a few pounds for getting rid of the procharger ... I still stick by my guess of about 150 added pounds over the previous set-up .....

If the only difference is the block between the 2 motors and you took out the SC, I would say you probably only gained about 40 pounds. The iron block weighs about 100 lbs more than the aluminum and the SC probably weighed about 60 lbs.

However, all weights are not equal. Where they are located also matters. Your engine is down low and back toward the middle of the car, while the SC is at the front of car. The farther a weight is from the car's center of gravity the more it adversely impacts handling. I would think with the new set-up you would actually come out ahead.
