Can you give me some input on car covers? The vert will be kept in the garage but still want a cover. I checked the store but wanted to know your expert advice on them in general........Thanks. This car is awesome! I will be getting tomorrow and just want to start off the vette thing right..................
If your car will ONLY be covered in the garage, I would get a nice soft cover that's not meant to be outdoors. I use mine for keeping the damaging rays of the sun off my paint and interior more than anything else, but also like to keep the dust off as it's parked outside all day at work. Especially during the summer. If I cover it everyday, it stays clean as a whistle until I wash it the next weekend.
But lately, now that I put up flourescent lights in the garage, I see scratches that must be from the cover's edges. I can't even see them in the sunlight, which is weird!! What happens is I lift the cover from the bottom rear after work, and it whips up and slides across the top of the trunk lid. Right on the edge, there, where the trunk lid shuts (I have a hardtop) there are many scratches that must be from the cover even though I don't put it on if the car's dirty in any way. I will verify they're from the cover after I hit the marks with my PC and then monitor the results.
Other than those marks, it's been pretty good to the car. I have a Weathershield by Covercraft. Look at the deals on the internet....there is a wide range of prices for the same models. I got mine from Big Sky...good prices.
my dad used to cover his cars too. He has a couple of cars/mustangs in Mexico, and anytime we go there for vacation, I can tell where the scratches on the mirros and on the edges of the pannels are. I'd like to get a car cover too, but I don't think I'll like the scraches generated from putting and taking the car cover off. My car is garaged all the time too, but since it's a dark blue it gets all dusty while garaged.
