Default opinions please

Since i'm up in Quebec City, the cost of a 98 camaro (40k) is higher than a US 03 Z06.

My questions is:

2003 Z06 or 2005-06 basic corvette ?

I can't afford a 08/09 ZR1, hehe!

Buy the newest, lowest mileage car you can afford.

I know this is a C5 forum and I love my C5 (especially its looks), but the C6 is a better car in many ways. It will be nearly as fast as the C5 Z06 and be a lot more comfortable.

If you like the C6 looks, go for it.

Oh yes, you could also get a vert if you stay with the regular C6.

Which ever model you chose,
Its what I did about 6 months ago. Just be sure to check admissability on the C6 (if you go that route). Also, check the Canadian section for help if you are going to buy and American car.

Another consideration is if you want a removable roof -- an '03 Z06 is solid top only. Be SURE to check out Canadian import duty, regulations and requirements before you drive up to the border -- you don't want any surprises. Happy hunting!

In my opinion, think in terms of style and fun. If you get caught up in the C6 is better, faster, etc., it will remove YOUR personnel satisfaction based on OTHERS opinions.

Go for your favorite style appeal and what is most fun for you.

Either way, suh-weet

This is what I have gathered from the forums over the years. The base C6 is slower than a 405hp C5 Z06 due to slightly less HP, more weight, different transmission ratios. The C5 Z06 is more of a hardcore "race" car and may give you a little more excitement when driving and probably handle better. The C6 however IS more of a refined car hands down. It has many more options/features which are very nice IMO. To name a few HID projector headlamps, seat warmers, optional navigation, keyless pushbutton ignition and a few other neat toys. The C6 will also be more quiet in the cabin during cruising and probably overall a smoother ride. Hopefully this helps you out. Just figure out what is more important to you and go from there. Oh and from my research it appears you can get a 05/06 Z51 vette (with ok miles) for mid 30's if you look hard enough, and you can get a 02-04 Z06 with very low miles for low 30's. For reference I purchased a showroom condition 03 Z06 22,000 miles last month for $31,000 from a dealership.

Thanks guys.

Well the 05-06 looks better as a daily but is pricey. However the 03 Z06 is not refined. hard choice.

Ive read that vette overheat with s/c too.

I can't really decide

I'm Canadian wintering in Florida, and can't believe the prices down here. Saw an 02 Z today for $25,500 private, 04 coupe $25,900 dealer, and lots of C6's in the $30's.

Wo is me; so many cars, so little time!
