Default Satisfied with Frame Savers from ECP

Recently I saw a CF member advertise a new slant on frame savers. After reading his post and seeing his web site I decided to buy a set. What follows is a recap of my experiences – the good, the bad and the ugly.

I placed an order at the introductory price of the frame savers and paid through Paypal. First time using that site, other than for collecting funds from an auction site!

When the package didn’t show up, I contacted the vendor and he readily admitted that he was having some production tooling problems. Without any hesitation he refunded my money through Paypal and said he would send the final product on approval, and I could pay after I got them. Vendor gets bonus points for honesty and doing the right thing.

I was excited when the first set showed up and yet after a frustrating couple of hours I could not slip the savers onto the frame. The vendor gave me some tips and admitted he had some problems too. But I could not get the devices on – no way, no how.

The vendor told me to throw the first set away and he’d ship me the new, improved version. Later those items came in. Good news, the devices slipped in without a problem. The vendor uses a bolt and nut to secure the device. The bad news; the drilled holes in the device weren’t quite high enough to allow the bolt to slip over the frame. Again the vendor agreed to ship me out the newest, latest version. Vendor gets bonus points for perseverance with a customer.

Just before Christmas, the wife called me at work wanting to know what I was expecting from Fed Ex from Canada. As soon as she said Canada, I knew exactly what it was!! 

I was able to slip the bolts through the frame savers with just a little wiggling and a little jiggling. I immediately paid the bill through Paypal.

Overall I thought the whole transaction went well! A little frustrated about the fitment problems but proof positive that these cars all have some slight variations and changes in the cars. The vendor was prompt with responding to my e-mails and I appreciate that he spent his time and energy to develop this product. My guess is he is upside down on my transaction and hope he keeps selling more to bring up the volume.

The product is top notch and comes with a lifetime guarantee.

In the interest of full disclosure I gave the vendor the opportunity to edit this posting before it went on the web. To his further credit he didn’t request any changes

Thanks Manny

I had (have) fitment issues. I left them attached without the bolts that will NOT line-up. I corresponded with the vendor but was never offered a substitute. As far as I'm concerned we can leave it at that. I wouldn't have remarked at all if not for this post...

I bought a set for my car a while back and with my brother's help (AJG1915) installed them on my car. We had fitment problems too. Luckily my brother had enough sense ( I didn't ) to see what the problem was and modified (cut) the protectors to make them fit perfectly.

All you had to do was contact me and I would have sent you another set, just like I did for Mark.

There are always some issues with new products. I do rely on feed back to fix any problems. I have always offer replacement parts to satisfy any issues. With little or no feed its hard to gauge a problem .Some cars we were able to get this product on easily and others it was a struggle. I have since modifed the tooling giving more space in the channel to allow for the differences.I stand behind the design and quality of all my products.

Manny, I corresponded with you three times via e-mail to tell you about the problems I was having and you never offered a refund or replacement.

If it's engineered and built correctly, it should fit.
Good to see the vendor is sending our replacement parts, but this is a pretty simple item. How many "new" versions do you need?

I bought a set and they went on with very little effort. They were a tad tight but very pleased with vendor.

The problem was with the tool maker not following the drawing. In order to get a good fit ,the parts need to be tight ,but so tight that they would have made installation difficult. It did take a few trys to get it right. It is now a product that works well and is easy to install.

Good to see a vendor stand behind the product like that.

I'll repeat that I was happy with the final product and his commitment to my total satisfaction. We ALL learn from our mistakes. With Manny tossing away two sets for me he is way upside down on the "purchase" with me. I think while our vettes are quality, bar none, there are inherent differences from car to car, year to year

It would be nice to see all of us on the forum post objective threads with their experiences of their purchases.
