Default Why no valet key?

I'd like to see a valet key that operated the door and ignition only, not the glove box or center console. And it would limit the engine to 50hp or something like that. That should be easy to do with the computer-controlled throttle.

Why not, GM?

(Yes, I know, flame me for daring to leave my Vette with some high school kid at the valet parking. I know, I know.)

The '90 to '95 ZR1 (LT5) Corvette had a valet key. The idea has been used, but I don't know why they didn't continue its use into C5/Z06.

In many establishments, at least around here, a Vette is a toy compared to much of what is being parked, with most of the higher end luxury and exotics not having a valet setting either, as far as I know. I suppose GM didn't feel the need to invest in a feature that none of its much more expensive competition also didn't feel worthy to include.

Did it depower the engine too?

Every year my wife and I have to travel to Atlanta for work. We always take my car since it is cozy for two people and our company always put us up at a hotel that has valet parking. I've talked with the valets and the manager for several years but only the valets are allowed to drive the cars into the garage. Additionally, no one else can ride with them while they're driving. To be honest, I've never seen/heard them mistreat my car, but you read many stories to the contrary.

The whole thing sounds like a sham to me and if I were paying for the hotel we would most definately stay somewhere else.

I would love to have a valet key like the ZR1's of old. Something that would keep the rpm limited to 2,800 rpm and throttle to 20%.

That's all it did, the car actually had a second key on the dash for it. The engine had 2 fuel injectors per cylinder, and the key disabled one set of injectors.

It is just a car and I have insurance. If valet is offered I let them have it. Your ideas are good they should have a limiting hp valet key.

The engine won't start without the resistor in it.
