[Z06] Do you think I'm crazy Crazy.
If you want something to look at and keep clean, obsess and stress over and talk with people about go for the '58. That is if you can put up with the fact that when you do want to drive it, it will likely have a dead battery, bad tranmission/rear main/rear end seals, flat spotted and rotten tires, bad gas, and cracked vacuum lines and even if you dream up places to take it with discipline to prevent the above that you can A) assure good weather B) find a safe place to park it or C) not need to carry anything at all- you will love it. Don't forget if you can come up with these ideal cruises the car will still not be a pleasant drive unless you enjoy a terrible ride with all sorts of noise vibration and harshness of a car that has suffered FIFTY years of sitting and metal fatigue that even brand new was a relative POS to a new chevy cobalt today. Also remember the "appreciating value" is on paper. Realizing that value is quite difficult as people that buy these cars are so informed and particular that the difference between a 100,000 dollar car and a 30,000 car (numbers thrown out there) is a few pieces of chrome and matching numbers.
If you are looking for a car to take for groceries and then to the dragstrip/track and beat A$$ in style and comfort keep the Z.
With that said as easy as it is for a 28 year old- when I am older I will probably also want another LT1 Firebird or 5.0 mustang even though it will also be a 50 yr old pos.
