It's possible that it has failed. There are sources that can repair your changer if you elect to do that. Are you sure it has power to it? Mine has a red light that illuminates when the sliding door is opened. Have you checked the connections in the passenger floorboard? Fuse? Is it possible that the harness has been damaged by any recent work? Does the radio head unit show anything abnormal (flashing CD icons)?
In past discussions, some have recommended disconnecting the male/female plugs at the changer and reconnecting. That apparently has resolved it for some.
Others suggest keeping the harness and switching to an adapter harness allowing for an IPOD, whatever that is...
Probably somebody has had this issue before, and if you have, is there a way around it? My changer does manufactured CDs fine, but for my burned CDs, usually the first 2 or 3 songs on each CD are very scratchy and the changer will give an ERR message and sometimes terminate play in favor of the radio. Is there ANY WAY to make burned CDs play with the regularity of manufactured ones ? I'm using high grade SONY's to burn, makes no dif. I even tried triple-layer labels on the CDs to make them "thicker" like manufactured ones, still no good. Does anybody know the trick ?
The oem (model #25685332) PIONEER 12 disc changer I just installed was purchased used from another member. He said he never had any issues with using burned CDs, which I also prefer. So far, I haven't had any issues, either.
Maybe it's the brand? I'm using TDK CD-R to copy (COSTCO). I make three copies of each new CD for each of our vehicles.
