My father and I just bought a 2003 Z06. I am just wondering what are common hop-up tips to boost hp (best bang for the buck) it would be nice to use all hp installed by "The General".

Really though, Headers, x-pipe, intake and a good tune will get you pretty far!!

I always advise people who buy a new car to wait a few months before you do anything to it. You are so excited by the car at first that you may do something rash that you regret later.

The C5 Z06 is quite a good performer right out of the box, I would get some seat time in the car before modding it at all (with the exception of appearance items... if thats your thing). You dont want to do things twice when you mod, after you get some seat time under your belt figure out some goals for the car and let that be your directions in terms of modding.

Thats a good plan, we'll put a season on the car and then make a plan.

Best bang for the buck has by far got to be a tune.
Just make sure your tunner is reputable......do some home work.
Next best thing is some type of cold air intake and a set of headers and x-pipe..........best to do a system from headers back to the stock Ti's............a cat back system will not yeild very much if anything.
After headers you should get a tune again if done after getting your 1st tune.

A tune alone should yeild 30-45rwhp at a cost of $450-$500== at an average of $12.00 per 1rwhp.......that's pretty hard to beat........well except for Nitrous

That LS6 wants to breath.....put a CAI and exhaust with a tune and you will be from a stock 340-350rwhp up to 420+rwhp
After that it's cam and or heads for all the "big" gains..........anything you do after that other than a power adder will be small and expensive in comparison.
Do yourself a favor and don't by into all the hype of bigger throttle body and intake manifolds on stock displacement.....as well as the hype that after market manufactures try to sell you on........for example there is NO!! cat back system that will give you another 40hp over stock on our Z's the Ti system just simply flows too well.
However they are great for adding some sound that can make others believe you're fast
