Default Installed Cartek Line Lock

Got around to installing my Cartek line lock this weekend I got on their sale. I used to do the "power brake" method which I got pretty good at, until I read a few things about ruining the clutch packs. I once accidentally did a clutch burnout cause I must have stomped on the brakes too hard and didn't allow the wheels to spin. Soo I decided to break down and buy the line lock kit.

I have apparently an odd model 98- because the ABS module is in the front of the car, but there is no proportioning valve between the master cylinder and the ABS module. So Cartek delayed shipment on my unit.

Installation was relatively easy even though it didn't come with any instructions. I didn't pull off the alternator, just moved the washer tank and replaced the line. Took 10 minutes for that part. It fit beautifully.

Of course I had some hang ups- had to buy a flare nut wrench set, but that should be useful in the future. Then when I went to bleed the front brakes I found that both of my front OEM rubber brake hoses were chaffed. Looks like from contacting the control arm. Now I need to buy Stainless brake lines and bleed them again.

But- the best part was doing my first successful line lock burnout. The first two I did not apply enough pressure on the brakes so the car still slid forwards. But then, I got it, just right. When I felt the tires break traction and see the smoke rise in the air with the car remaining completely planted I had the hugest grin on my face Then I released the line lock and the glided car forwards for an ultra smooth 2 wheeled burnout. No funky wheel hop or anything like that, I was quite ecstatic

There goes my rear tires

Got one in mine and it makes it easy to show off or warm up the rear tires for the track

Yup. I have a spare rear rim. I plan to get another spare rear rim and mount crappy, worn tires, to have a set of burnout tires

The line lock definitly helps to eleminate clutch burnout but doesn't prevent it totally....trust me i know first hand. Try using your line lock while in 5th gear (bone-head move i know, but it happens).
