Could someone tell the the factory set RPM for the rev limiter on a 2003 Z06? Is it safe or necesary to increase it? Thanks
You could always run 'er up and find out. I've hit it on occassion, looks to be about 6700.
As to whether its safe or necessary, there's not much that's truly necessary. As to whether its safe, I'm going to guess that it's pretty close to max that a stock engine should see. I would expect stuff like bent pushrods when you get too high.
Hey, try it out and let us know how it turns out!!!
(you realize I'm just kidding about some of this stuff, right?)
I would not advise upping it without better valve springs and pushrods. Without a cam/blower/turbo, there isn't much reason to do so...your power is falling off way before that point.
