An annoying problem recently popped up in my 2004 coupe. I am getting fairly loud creaks and rattles from the dashboard area. Some of the creaks appear to be coming from the roof levers while there is a noticeable rattle directly in front of me (from in back of the steering wheel?). I've tried opening and closing the roof levers and tightening dashboard screws but haven't solved the problem. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?
I have a similar rattle. First I discovered that the blower (hvac) motor was rattling (not the bolts holding it in place but the actual rotor of the motor). I oiled that. I also think that the plastic sort of groans. When I have a chance I plan to spay WD40 all over and see if that changes anything. I don't mind road, or exhaust noise but a rattle really bugs me.

You need to adjust the roof hold-down clamps a bit.
I think you need something like a 10mm open end wrench. Flex the
plastic windshiled cover back and loosen/adust.
It just tightens the top down a little and fixes the rattle.
Before you go nuts, check the sun visor connect point. I had a similar noise pop up and found it due to the plastic end point was loose in the clasp attached to the A pillar. I took the soft part of velcro, just a little tiny piece, cut and inserted it. Now the visors grip tight again and no noise.
You can check by just holding pressure on them when you hear the noise.
I get a rattle from top of instrument "glass" to where it contacts the black frame. Also I have a Vert and those colums, with spring tops on either side, generate rattles also.

Had the same problem - For a while I just wrapped a small piece of electrical tape around the end of the sunvisor post, but ended up just buying a new retainer clip. Dash area rattles can be a real PITA to figure out.
