I have a 2005 ctsv ls6 and would like about 100 more hp. car is bone stock and has 12,000 miles. thanks for the help and i can do most modding my self a cam charger ect. P.S. i know its not a vett but you guys are the best to ask thanks.
Well if you want another 100RWHP then you either need to go forced induction (blower) or a nice heads/cam combo to get up to about 460RWHP. Now hitting 460 means you probably need a decently sized cam so what are you looking for as far as driveability? A blower will drive like stock and have more power down low. Also it would be cheaper to go the N/A route versus the blower.
paxton does not make a kit for the v. I think the car would have to be pretty driveable wife drives it a lot. but we both like more power. i just think 75 to 100 hp would keep up with the new vetts and put a real beating on the father inlaws stage 3 roush. the v weighs about 3900 so it needs a little more. thank for hel and suddgestions.
Magnuson Supercharger and optional dual intercooler, headers, and exhaust...
I have an 05 gto that I put headers and a maggie supercharger on. Went from about 350 rwhp to 477 rwhp. Maggies are easy to install yourself and very reliable power adders. Problem is that once I did that I kept wanting more, so now its an ongoing project and a money pit .
Go with the blower...more $$$ on the initial outlay, but you keep the integrity of your stock engine, can re-sell the blower separately if needed and the car drives like stock when needed.
Andy at A&A Corvette got my LS6 to put out 593 RWHP on a stock engine...that equates to 700HP at the crank!!!
I did add a Methanol injection kit for safety, but the boost is set at a mild 6-7 PSI.
Dont forget that if you add all this power you will need to do a clutch, and the rear, I have heard alot about the CTSV having rear end problems.
100%
The rear in the CTS-V is marginal for stock power levels..... add another 100 rwhp not to mention the gobs of torque from a FI set up and your putting together a recipe for disaster in terms of rear end carnage. I would strongly consider this before modding since I can assure you it will void any factory warranty you may have, its not a cheap rear to fix either. If your looking for a little extra umph then you might want to consider some bolt ons and a good tune, it will be noticeable power but not too much as to where your gonna have to worry about tearing the driveline apart.
Yeah, always go from a 2nd gear roll. Sometimes you just can't. I agree with the SC guys. On a Caddy, the Maggie is such a nice power adder, and looks uber-trick. I don't even think you have to replace your hood, but not sure about that. Devil's advocate....a lumpy cam sound coming from a CTS in traffic would be way cool, assuming you have the exhaust system to announce it.
the car is under warrenty for a long time and i was on cadilacforms.com and there are a few dealer that are ok with modded car and will replace the rear because they know it was not built strong enough. there are some guy on there 6 or 7 rear. there is also someone who biult a steel case for the rear and justed finished it has a 150 mile on so far the whole cts v crowed is excited. more power no breaky.
