By painting it a different color, you are pretty much killing any re-sale value you may have, so for it to be a garage queen wouldnt make that much sense. If you are going to keep the car for a while, then deffiantly go with a custom color

I'd stick with the stock pewter color. Contrary to what you may think, it is a great color for the C5. Doesn't show dirt or scratches and looks awesome IMO.
Custom...If its a good job, it wont hurt resale at all... its been in an accident, that needs to be disclosed anyways, that would be the bigger issue.. I LOVE the gunmetal grey on the ZR1, I think that would look SO sweet on a C5 and you would NOT have to be a garage queen. Keep in mind that ANY custom colour can be put into touch up bottle and can also be re-produced if you get the paint codes used.

Go for it.. Custom all the way
It was not in an accident. Rejects decided to cut marble 5 feet away from the nose of the car sending shards of cut marble at high velocity onto my car. The paint and windshield had a million chips. That is the reason it is being repainted.
You could leave it Pewter but finish it with a custom clearcoat. I saw a silver C5 with a black pearl clearcoat and it looked wicked. I would do something like that to my silver C5 if given the opportunity.
