can anyone recommend a better tire that will fit on my stock 02 z06 rims. the f-1 supercars absolutely suck 19000 miles and shot. they are very squirrelly. i got a price on them of 1400 mounted and balanced. I was told they are my only option
You got 19,000 miles on your F1sc and you say they suck ????
I'm lucky if I get half that from a set on my car ... 10,000 for a set of high performance tires is probably average .... What are you looking for ... 40,000 miles from a set of tires ???? If so, a Z06 is the wrong car for you.
These are high performance cars with high performance tires .... maybe the closest you'll find to a "street" tire is the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 ..... several people have tried it on their stock C5 cars and like them ... don't know if GY even makes them in a size for the Z06 rims.

Try the Nitto Invo, great looking tires and if you check with the C6 Z06 guys and handful of them have tried them on the street and track and rave about them. I will be trying them this year.
If you want longer tread life, you could consider the Toyo Proxes, Firestone Wide Ovals, or the Vredestein Sessanta's. These tires also happen to be more affordable if that's an issue. These three tires have treadwear ratings of 280 to 320, but I doubt that they will perform NEARLY as well as the Supercars or Pilots. I've seen mixed reviews on the Firestones (and a fair amount of disgust even); generally positive reviews on the Toyos and more positive reviews on the Vredesteins. They are all great tires, coming very close at times to the elite brands. In fact, I have a set of the Vredesteins ready to go on my Z next week. With a little looking around you should be able to pick up either of these sets for $650-$800 delivered. All these tires are available in stock Z06 sizes, except for the Vredesteins which will require 275/40 up front vs. the 265/40. (They fit fine too).
edit: Just realized the Goodyear F1 GS D3 tires also have better treadwear and are generally highly regarded; but they are a bit pricier than the three brands I mentioned above.
If you really want the absolute best in performance, you're going to get less tread life. That's just how it is, unfortunately.

if you want to stick..go with nitto's...only 100 for treadwear, there only good for about 12k miles here in socal..i use those and dunlops on the ft.same size as stock F1's.they have a treadwear of 300..its worked great for street for the past yr..
When I had the stock wheels on my 2001 ZO6, I replaced the Goodyear SC's with 265/40/17 & 295/35/18 Michelin Pilot Sport's.
Way better traction with the Pilot's! Plus more tread depth compared the the SC's. I now have 265/35/18 & 305/30/19 Michelin PS2's.
Keep in mind that 275/40/17 tires have a noticeably higher sidewall than a 295/35/18.

Yea, I love my PS2's....they're expensive, but you get what you pay for.
I noticed the sidewall differences too, and probably the only negative I have to say about them. I actually run 315/30/18 on the rear, so with the 275/40/17 the fronts look a little beefier on the sidewall, and a little funny......but I guess it's worth it.
I might go back to 265's on the front next time, and even back to 295 on the rears....but I like the extra meat
