Extended Warenty
They offer different levels of warranty, different deductibles, rental vehicles, etc. The service manager at the local dealership says they offer virtually the same levels of coverage as the GMPP warranty. I've never had them question any of the service work on either of the two vehicles above.
The only caveat is that the vehicle cannot exceed 60,000 miles of in service miles before application.

Most of them don't......would be cool if they do and you've had great service from them.
To the OP;
I know Warranty America will do policies on the Z as well.
With your car being an '01 you may not be eligable for a Bumper to Bumper type policy.
If you are still eligable then you will be looking at anywhere from $2,400 to as high as $3k for 5-6yrs upto 100k miles. Depending on who you go through (and I'm refering to the seller not the policy writer).
Get the best cvg you can in terms of level of cvg. Most of the time a B2B policy is pretty much the same price as a named componant cvg (at least as far as the actual cost from the underwriter).
Stay away from Powertrain only cvg, they are not worth the cost. Most of them have policy limits that will end up not covering the entire cost of any given repair.
Let us know what FIRST EXTENDED SERVICE CORPORATION quotes you, and double check with them that they know you have a Z.

I can say after my first time having a claim with them, that they are fantastic! It seems these days that companies rarely make things as easy as they say they will. This warranty company SAID (when I was buying their warranty) that the policy I have is exclusionary, that it covers everything except what's listed in my literature, and that they pay for everything over the phone with their company credit card.
So I took my car to Fletcher Chevrolet here in town, they diagnosed and found what was wrong, called the claims dept to get approval for the repairs, and then let me have my car back. I returned the car next week after the parts came in. The dealership did the work, called back to collect payment from the warranty company, then when I picked up my car, all I owed was my co-pay plus a computer update not covered by the warranty. The warranty company happily paid for about $1300 in repairs, and all I paid was the $100 co-pay (a per visit co-pay, not per repair). They replaced my starter to finally cure my starting issue, and they replaced the right tank sending unit to fix the gas guage.
So all in all, it was a good experience with this warranty company. The service advisor said he had no issues with them at all, and they'd be happy to do any future work on my car dealing with this warranty company. So there you have it.

It says alot about the company when they fixed your starter before it was "totaly out" some companies make you wait till the part has completely failed before paying for a repair........sounds like these people are a good company
And who told you that?
So only "factory" warranties pay for them selves?
Is this some voice of experience talking or are you just wanting to continue to spread ignorance?
An extended warranty (Vehichle Service Contract) weather it be "factory" or not is no different than any other type of insurance policy...........you're betting you will have problems, and their betting you won't. Plus they get your money up front and invest it.....this is where a large portion of their profits come from.
For those who do end up using their coverage, they usually come out ahead, not only on the total cost of repairs but when that repair was needed.........not everyone is prepaired to drop $1-$2k on a repair at a moments notice...........it's called piece of mind..........what's that worth? You're 3 times more likely to use a warranty than your insurance..........has that ever paid for it's self for you? Is that a waste of money?
If you have a story to tell about a warranty company that has screwed you over or jerked you around please tell it..............other wise a blanket statement like yours serves no one.

Warranty Warehouse warranty 7 year 75K miles on my vette $1500 (car was out of mfg. warranty) First repair first year $800. I still have 5 years and 50K miles to go...do you feel lucky? Well do you Punk!

For some folks they pay $1,000 to $4,000 for the warranty and have repairs that would have cost $8,000 or more. I remember a member not long ago that paid $2K for a warranty and had over 8k in paid claims. Some folks spend the money and never make a claim. These folks usually are not upset by this because the cost of a warranty give them piece of mind.
Insurance is nothing more than collecting premiums from a large base of customers and paying out claims to a small percentage of policy holders. I've had homeowners insurance for over 30 years and never made a claim. I'm not upset about that although I do wish my premium was less.
