Default C5 Z06 vs C6

Hey all
I did a search and really didnt find anything (other then a post about The Vette Doctors 1000hp C6 TT )

I am wondering who would be the winner of the following catagories between the two opponents with both being stock.
Contenders:
C5 Z06 versus a C6 (non-Z06)

Catagories:
Handling
Accelleration
Braking
Ride comfort
Maintaince (which is the one that will be in the garage more)

Corvette Quarterly did this exact comparison test right after the C6 was introduced. They compared a C5 Z06 with a C6 equipped with the Z51 package. Edge went to the Z06, but they proclaimed it "too close to call".

If you look at back issues, I'd check the Fall 2005, or maybe the Winter 2005 issues to see for yourself.

I havent really noticed this so called C5Z price drop?!? Clean low mileage 03/04's still going for the same old low to mid 30's where they have been hanging around for a long time now.

As for C5Z vs C6 its seems perfect driver vs perfect drive C5Z should pull everytime. There are also a couple real time videos floating around on you tube and the ones I have seen the C5Z wins. Comfort and ride quality I would say goes to the C6 ofcourse.

5 fly wheel horsepower is not going to matter on the street or track or anywhere.

I'll testify that a stock c5z is faster though OH, and looks better.

Not the OP's question. But i'd put my money on the 08'. When I raced the 06' it was pretty close.

I think you will find that those that are seeking and purchasing a C5 Z06 are not really thinking about the 430 HP motor of an 08 C6. There is not a question of comparison, it's not even much of a thought.

Sure there is a Badge , but there is actually a "defined" car that the badge is sticking to !

I believe I read a post where someone describes the C5 Z06 as a car that "feels like" the Muscle Cars of old as compared to the new C6's as a comfortable refined "very" fast car.

I really enjoyed driving the C6 Vettes that I drove, but I "REALLY" enjoy driving the 01 Z06 that I have.

Different Cars, different identities.

I've got an '03 Z06 with headers, honker and a tune and only barely pulled a '08 C6, manual with the optional exhaust on several runs. Very impressive acceleration. Braking and handling - don't know since I'm running coilovers and sways and sticky tires.

In real world bone stock results, the C5Z substantially beats the 05-07 C6s mostly because of the torque management garbage. Even though the new 08s have 30 more HP than the LS2, right now they are technically 'slower' than the previous C6s because the new torque management is even more invasive.

And no, I haven't any C5Z price drops in the past year. You can find new 2008s at Kerbeck for $39k, yet a clean low-mile 2004 Z06 will still net in the $35k range.

Proof...

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...postcount=2432

So far, the fastest bone stock C6 on this forum ran a 12.2@115 (2006 A6), while the fastest LS3 ran a 12.4. There have been a handful of stock C5Zs in the 11s.

The C5Z also has better gearing with the M12 Tranny. There are some street race videos floating around on Youtube and corvette killstories and the C5Z wins most of them, but not by far.
