Default The main event,C5 Vs. C6,comparision test..

Hi all,

In this corner: 2006 BLK. C6 Coupe LS2,Z51,Stick,Vararam and Catback.

Remember,, in 2006, the Z51/stick confiquration was the second fastest vette, only to the Z06 from the factory, in stock form.

Last night my C6 friend Sam, we installed a Vararam intake, in about 2 hours. I was invited to go on the first test ride afterwords.

Holy *^^%#%%,:^%^^,%%$^^####&^ the car fricken FLYS !!
At aprox. 430/440 at crank H.P., in flight forced air induction, on a cool P.M. night, it is no doubt the fastest car I have ridden in since a 1969 Z28 Camaro modified DZ302 motor and stick, `nuff said.

In this corner,, we decide to go for a comparision test ride in my newly Diablo handheld tuned, 2003 AE Vert A4,3.15, dual cone intake/catback. (Aprox. 380/390 crank H.P.)
Remember, this car, in the OEM stock confiquration for 2003, with the exception of the 3.15 performance axle, was the slowest of all the Vettes, BUT INTENDED to be a luxury performance ROADSTER by Engineering design and intent.

On a performance scale, if the C6 is a 10, I give my car a 7. Furthermore, I have come to a new PERSONNEL conclusion, you (or should I say I ) CANNOT FULLY expierence a Muscle Car ride with an automatic like you can a stick. Yes consistent 1/4 mile runs could be better maintained with the auto and yes I know pro`s run automatics.
Not my point, the stick is part of the old school sensation that is IMHO required to be there,,, to add to the proper OVERALL SENSATION.

THE WINNER: General Motors, Corvette Build Team, USA1

Second Place:ALL Corvette OWNERS, smart enough to know the worlds greatest performance bargain, then and now. Not the obvious build quality of many European models, but consider the demographics or market, as targeted by the manufacturer.

BOTH CARS simply score a 10 in Engineering Design intent.

With timeless and classic lines and comfort and untapped potential, the A.E. Vert does it`s 50 year linage proud and always remember, the Corvette WAS BORN A VERT, so now I enter my personnel bias.

The C6 with just the Vararam intake mod on the Z51 plateform, has nothing to fear from a stock LS3 or MANY MANY other performance car`s. It is what it is, a true high performance race car.

So there you have it, there are no loser`s, only opinions and bias, ANY CORVETTE IS AMERICA`S FINEST Performance car, all things considered. And the build quality issue as stated, maybe we better compare the new 650 H.P. "Caddy",,, is that European performance cars tucking their tailpipes between thier wheels,,, already?, CONGRATULATIONS G.M. and especially Team Corvette, you dominate international competition and represent,,,

,,,Americas finer virtues and the official Corvette Hallmark, may: Precision, Power and Passion always guide your,,, no, OUR SPIRIT.

Peace,
Les

Just watched it, Suh-weet run, everything fell into place PERFECTLY.
Do you get any official recognition ? Oh and regarding my post, I am once again, referring to that year(s) 03 Vs. 06 in stock form as generally recognized by the Mfg. and major auto publications, then with some slight mods. Your run was an exception with an 05.

Peace,
Les

I really hope the thumbs up sign is because you like the article I wrote or is it cause of the fast run? I`m obviously trying to be objective yet highly positive. Looks like we could use a little of that around here of late.

Thanks/Peace,
Les

i know it was just a personal comparison, but comparing a c6 z51 stick to a ls1 auto VERT is a VERY big difference.
probably a better comparison would be a bolton FRC to the z51. but good to see a comparison either way. thank you.

just my .02

I knew that and tried to FULLY account with the 'designed from the factory" part(s).

Anyway, it ain`t no thing, just trying to be kind to everyone, regardless and provide a good read.

Thanks/Peace,
Les

No just kidding, the C5 is the quantum leap Vette as validated by Motor Trends Car of the Year Award, it stands in Corvette history as such.

The lines are more stylish/balanced/pleasing than most C6 IMO, I prefer my Shale interior with wrap around **** pit and grab handle and waterfall ragtop design thingy in the middle, all a tribute to 60`s models, not cramped inside either.

BUT, and I`m happy to say in a sense, because this kind of progress is great and probably will not last on the current upscale it is going:

The LS1 with 350 H.P. in stock form,,, is OUTDATED. Just my personnel opinion, of course.

Peace,
Les
