I took my 2002 center caps into a auto body paint supply shop to match the color. I was told that there are 3 paint codes for the wheels. They computer matched the color and got a perfect match. Good luck
O1's & early 02's used a forged wheel mfg by Alcoa. From mid 02 on, a spuncast wheel mfg by Speedline was used. The Speedline wheel is a little lighter in both weight and color.... If you take your wheel off and look on the back of the spokes, the mfg's name will be molded in..
Pretty much correct info provided here - exception only that only a very limited number of 02's were delivered with the earlier ALCOA forged wheels, starting Mid-October 2001.
The reason for this was that the later spun-cast Speedline wheels were made in Italy and there were availability problems related to the fallout from the Sept 11 attacks.
A little searching will yield an exact range of vin's that were involved.
The ALCOA's have a sharper edge on the spoke, and have GM and ALCOA machine pin-stamped on the back of them.
The Speedlines are slightly lighter in color (and weight) and have small oval pockets of relief on the back of every other spoke that have a cast in speedline emblem in them.
You can feel this pocket if you run your fingers along the rear of the spokes on a car with them installed.
After you have seen a few of each, you can tell just by looking at them.
best regards -
