I'm doing a wheel swap/brake pads for the first time on the Z. Not my first time getting dirty under the hood, but jacking up the low (stock height though) Z just makes me nervous. I did a number of searches and see a lot of people jacking up the entire rear and front. My question is, can I safely use the frame rail jacking points (with pucks if needed) and just change one tire at a time. Some help from the veterans would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
It is recommended that the car be put on jack stands before you work on/under it. Working on a car that is supported only by a jack is unsafe.
If you jack the car from, say, the right front frame rail jacking point, you will discover that the car's frame is so stiff the rear right wheel will come off the ground about the same time as the right front. Now where do you put a jackstand ???
Easiest is to raise the car enough to get your jack under the front center jacking point (or rear cradle ... whatever) by driving up on a small ramp. Once you raise the front (or rear) it is relatively easy to get your jack stands either under the cradle, or the side frame jacking points.
