I have a 2004 convertible which was originally purchased in the US and later exported to Canada. I was wonderng how dificult/expensive it is to swap the 200mph (American) gauge cluster for the 320kph (Canadian) gauge cluster. Maybe there is someone who bought an '04 out of Canada and imported to the US that may want to make a swap.
I'm in the same boat but I actually prefer the 200 scale.
1) You have greater needle movement over the range. I hate it when with normal driving you never use more than 1/4 of the speedo.
2) If you do go over 200 km/hr you can switch it to mph.
3) It's a conversation piece. People look in and say' "vettes only go 200?" I say, "No, this is a U.S. car, that's a mph scale, vettes go 320 km/hr." Shuts em up every time.

I'm in Canada, have the the USA version 200mph/kph speedo and I can't imagine having the real Canadian/Euro 320kph version. The difference between driving the speed limit and being 20kph over would be like 1/4" on the gauge.
High speeds aren't usable anyway and as you say, switch to mph if 200kph isn't enough. Up here, 150kph is enough to get your car impounded and all the other grief that comes along with that.
I've got a Canadian car here in the U.S...I use the "heads up display" and don't really use the speedo anyway. When life's a blur....you don't have time to look down at a speedometer......

I have both, a US car and a CDN car. Myself I prefer the Candian speedo, seeing the 300 and knowing that I can almost get it there is pretty cool, besides how many other cars out there have a speedo that only reads 300 mph?

I looked in to it for my 2000 Hardtop and couldn't justify the expense, (not yet anyway). Having said that, I do believe that to swap out the speedometer on a 2004 was cheaper than on the 2000 as per the GM Dealership.
I have a 1998 and its not as different as my 2000 it looks cool at 300 not 320 and you just hit the button to change to mph the oil and water are straight up on both but going 50 on us car is close to 12 o'clock an 50 on the Canadian one is at close to 3 oclock
