Default Battery problems..Help..help

i havent driven the car for a month. . I whent to go start it and it was drained. I jumped the car and it statred up.. but it felt like the car battery was not at max perfromance--sound of the car. I left it started for 20 mins and turned it off. When i whent to go start it up the next morning the battery seemd to be drained and it didt start up. I just got myself a new battery last year. What do i have to do to make the car start up every time???

Similar posts are linked below...you need to use some type of battery maintenance charger for periods of non use and hibernation...BATTERY TENDER or CTEK are both popular.
You can find more by going to C5 Tech, clicking on search this forum (in the red banner) using keywords "float maintenance charger" or "dead battery" or "drained battery" or "BATTERY TENDER" or "CTEK" or similar...
Some will suggest using lesser expensive off shore made chargers from WALMART or HARBOR FREIGHT. They might not have the circuit protection that the two suggested chargers have.
It's your car to do with as you please!

Everybody here has the gauge button, (2nd from top), so that you can see the volts.
Get in and shut the door. Turn the key on and without starting, see the volts. It should be about 12. Start the car, and it needs to be more than that if it's charging. Turn the lights on high and it will still be higher if it's regulating properly.

A month is too long to go without starting. The battery will drain in about 2-3 weeks to the point where the car won't start. I have the CTEK charger, purchased from Chip @ CCA and it keeps my Exide Orbital
fully charged and ready to go. Very easy to use, and safe for your car!

I recently read where a typical battery installed in an electronics laden modern vehicle can lose up to 40% of its charge in 10 days w/o use...

I agree with the others regarding some type of battery tender. The other thing that got me when I installed a new battery is I did not get a real good connection on the positive terminal and it caused the battery to not charge while in the car and connected to the side terminals. Give your battery cable connections a good cleaning with a wire brush or some such and reconnect and make sure you have the cables seated well.

Now get yourself a battery tender and you should be good to go.

Mine has CTEK plug in all time.
I drove my AE 03 one a month.
Before that I did not have CTEK ....battery drained , jump start was OK .....when to restaurant for dinner, after dinner , I start engine ....nothing happen... What a shame everyone look at my vette ...I can not seat on the driver side and let my wife push the vette ....fortunately ....my AE is stick shift ....another friend just push for 5 ft ....I shift it to 2nd gear ....Was OK.

From that time I used CTEK.....now everytime I start the AE ....engine Wroom right away.

Happy with CTEK battery tender.

Your owner's manual says to disconnect the battery if you're going to have the car sit unused for more that 25 days.

I've been using the Battery Tender for the last four years. The OEM AGM battery in my '03 still cranks like new.

I think i might have figured out my problem. Lately the driver seat has been acting really weird. When ever i get into the car the seat starts to move and make some weird noise. When i shut the door it begins to move agan and act weird. I think think i got water in it and its staying on when i turn the car off. I think its draining out my battery everytime. Because whentyn i jump the car its fine but when i turn it off it will start up in about 10 mins and turn it just wont turn over. I think the seats draining my battery evrytime i turn it off. I thinks its drained my battery out to the bones. Im going to see if i can get it replaced cause is till have warranty on it.

Its been close to 2 months since I last started mine up. As long as my
battery tender has a green light on it, I know all is well!!!

Default Battery Problems

I May Be Fortunate, But My 04 Z06 Has The Original Battery And I Let It Sit For Sometimes As Long As Two Months Without Starting With No Battery Tender And Have Not Had A Problem. I Bought A Battery Tender Two Years Ago But Have Not Used Yet. I Have Also Been Thinking About Getting A New Battery Due To The Age Of This Original Battery And The Fact That The Maggie Intercooler Tank Sits On Top Of The Battery Which Makes It A Pain To Get To The Battery.

A battery tender plus is one of the most cost-saving investments you can make for your beloved C5 if you drive a few times in a week and/or store the car for winter.
