engineered car..and a better deal price wise unless you can find
a reasonable C5 seller.
Hello Guys, I was looking through the C6 forum for no real reason other than I had not looked at it much before, and happened upon the above quote. Now I'm not wanting to start a pi**ing match with the c6 guys, because imho all vettes are enjoyable cars and it's just a matter of preference. But if the quote is somewhat factual that the c5's are more expensive relatively speaking, and the c5 sellers are asking and getting more money for their cars again relatively speaking than c6 owners, don't you think there has to be a reason, like maybe there is more demand for the c5, and more people like it better and want it more than a c6. Just a thought. Let the games begin

Doesnt sound like they are bashing the C5 but explaining that some owners are selling the C5 for out of this world prices.

I wouldnt fret it as we all have great cars, no matter what generation it is

I like both cars and with the exception of the C6 Z06 and ZR1, I like the C5 a lot better. But the '05-'07 C6's are pretty cheap I think because when the LS3 came out for the '08's, everyone started getting those and there wasnt a big market for the LS2 anymore. Hopefully within the next year I can get a C6 for a stable mate.

Lots of new 08 C6s going for invoice give or take a few hunderd bucks as the soft economy is forcing the dealers to work with new buyers and GM is pushing them out at a clip faster than the C5 so the LS2 is losing value faster than anyone thought. Has me considering a 07 this fall when the 09s are out, but then I hope to have found a 2000 Vert with 1100 miles on it for the low 20s

This one will stay close to stock as it will be a daily driver and will allow me to finally do some real mods to Sick HP

Thats actually what I had in mind with mine too. Hopefully I can get a C6 Z06 in the next year or so, then finally get around to putting the LSX engine, at 511 ci., in the C5.

There may be people looking to buy their first Corvette and think the used C6's are in the $45,000+ range. This makes $30,000 C5's look better from both a $ standpoint and a styling standpoint.

I dont think you will be able find a 2000 vert with 1100 miles in the low 20s. Not being negative, just seems way to low a price for a car with that mileage. I know I wouldnt part with my FRC with only 8000 miles for less than 25k. Wishing you luck on you search.

I would not of posted that I have located one and she is a widow and my buddy is working with her to get it for me, oh he sells cars and she drove this like new Vette with 1100 miles to his lot, if he gets her to bite on the price he wants I will get me a sweeeeeet deal if not, there is always another deal out there for a C6, which is what I have been looking at for sometime when this came up, oh you are not negative, but this widow had to goto GM and have a key made she could not find them when her husband died and what my buddy will give her is already more than the dealership offered

Kelley Blue Book would put it much higher.

It's the economy and the amount of disposible income people have. I just sold my C6 for 29K and bought a C5 for 19K. The C6 is basically the same car reskinned. I need some cash for a house but didn't want to give up Corvettes altogether. A lot of depreciation the first couple years though...

In late August I bought my 2000 pewter C5 Vert with 13,442 miles on it for $28,000 in Az. I think location and condition are the factors to consider. They may be going for a little lower now because of the economy.
Good luck!
