Default SLP Blackwing Help Needed

As some of you have read, I just purchased a '98 coupe to use as my daily driver. It came with SLP's Blackwing on it, and I have a few questions for those of you who have these.

Where the Blackwing attaches to the front of my car there is a rubber grommet on one side and not on the other. So clearly I should either have two rubber grommets or none at all. Which is it? Also, if they are supposed to be there, are they factory GM parts (left over from removing the stock filter) or are they part of the SLP Blackwing kit?

I would also like to clean my car's Blackwing as soon as possible. I do not want to use K&N oil on it. Where is the best (and cheapest) place to purchase the SLP cleaner and oil kit? I went to SLP's website, but they require an order over $25.

Finally, if I want to replace a few "worn" parts on the Blackwing (like the flow gauge for example), can they be ordered directly from SLP or another source?

Thanks,
LO PHAT

Hi Lo ,

You should have two rubber grommets on the front securing the filter to the crossmember. These would have been removed from the OEM filter "box" and switched over to the Blackwing.

It is said you should NOT use K&N oil for the Blackwing; surf most any of the vendors here and they sell the "official" BW cleaning kit w/o a goofy minimum charge. You may also want to check with Xtreme Motorsports (a forum vendor) which is in Tempe (or any other local shops for that matter). They may have it in stock and you will save the S&H.

As to your last question, can't help you there. You'll just need to call around and ask, although my gut says no one will have this part save the mfr. Good luck.

there should be two grommet's if your talkin about the one that hold it to the front of the car,and if you buy a new flow gauge and a cleaning and oil kit, then you should be over 25 .00 and they should ship it
but that dont sound right cause they shipped me a new gasket for my 03 since they were modified for 2000 to 2004 and it was only 14.95,sometimes when you call them you can get a rude person on the phone,so ask for a supervisor or manager

Yes, you should have two grommets on the filter. Try a place like Corvette Garage, Xtreme Motorsports or West Coast Corvettes for a filter cleaning kit. And you're probably going to have to talk to the manufacturer for the flow gauge.
