I went with EFI Live for a couple reasons. I was told the HP forum wasn't very helpful and that the EFI was able to do a few more things. I don't know if it all true but I am glad I went the way I did.
I'm a tuner that has worked with both... I much prefer HPtuners. I have had nothing but good experiences with their forums as well, so I don't know how anyone would say they aren't helpful.
For the $$, go & get a dyno tune. I had a preditor custom tune & went to a "dyno day" with the gang. I ran my car on the dyno just to see the #'s. Well lets just say, that I had a dyno tune done right then & gained 30+ hp & almost 40+ torque. Now this was after the custom tune I had from the hand held that I spent an extra $100 from the factory for sending it back with my car info in it & them charging me $100 to custom tune it. I won't go into details of what was wrong with the tune. I will suggest to get a good dyno tune & you will never be happier. If you have a good dyno man, he will be able to out do any hand held for about the same price.
If you are a Nitrous junkie, then EFI might suit you a lil better. You can use a custom operating system that will switch between a street tune, to a n20 tune when you arm.
If you use the Real Time Tuning OS with HPTuners you can do most of what the Roadrunner gets you, and you don't have to change out your PCM. This is a much less expensive and simpler option.
They're both good products. I looked into them both quite a bit before I decided. I went with the HPTuners Pro. I haven't regretted it a bit.
If you're going to do wideband tuning the Pro is considerably easier to deal with and well worth the extra $150, imo.

i would agree. i have done both. you will get a lot more for your $$ with a dyno tune. plus you will have a record of exactly what you got.
