Default Update on Supercharger project

Well I was at the speed shop till 5:30 AM this morning with my Z06 on the dyno, making pulley swaps, then the belt started to slip at around 6200 RPM's a little, enough to make the 7 pounds of boost slip down about a 1/2 to 3/4 pounds of boost, but still above 6 pounds all the time. So he put a shorter belt on to add more tension to the tensioner with hopes of stopping the little slippage at higher RPM's. Made a couple more pulls and it did help, but there is still a little drop in boost in the very upper 6000+ RPM range. The torque curve is amazing, right off the get go, producing 7 pounds and holding till basically...

I was hoping to get around 8, 9, or close to 10 pounds of boost out of the smaller 3.1 pulley as compared to the 3.4 that was on it stock, but the pulley swap only netted about another pound or so. If I could have or can get the boost up to about 9 I thought I might get closer to about 500 RWHP and closer to about 500 RWTQ, but the numbers at the moment with 6-7 lbs boost are 462.2 RWHP, and 469 RWTQ I believe. I will have dyno sheets and more information soon. Oh yeah those pulls and numbers are without the methanol injection turned on, we were trying to see what numbers we could get without the meth injection first.

We then ran into a little glitch where one of the two fuel injector fuses on the car had blown, so at that point when starting to make another dyno pull during the initial going through the gears one of the two inj. fuses blew, and that made it only run on 4 cylinders, and to my surprise when he let off it, it was still idleing before he shut it off, after looking for issue(s) and seeing nothing visible he started it back up and it ran on 4 cylinders...lol before shutting it off again and finding that blown fuse. We replaced the fuse and now are figuring out what may have caused that.

I can't wait to have it back and drive it around. This is all new to me having the FI set-up, so I am learning as I go.

Congrats man!

Welcome to the club! The first dyno's are the most nerve racking!

I installed my A&A Vortech in the garage so I remember thinking it was was going to blow up the whole tie LOL I was so nervouse I couldn't even whatch it dyno LOL. Anyways it did great and I had one or two little right after the install getting everything tweaked and then from then on it has been smooth sailing!

Enjoy the process because when it's all done and tuned, you did it!

Yep... the first pulls are nerve racking... I did my cam install and the first 7000 rpm pulls made me cringe thinking it'd come apart

Heading back to the Speed Shop to check on my Z06 and I've got the video camera and my Nikon D-50 digital SLR this time, so I should have some nice pictures and video on the dyno when I get back which I will add later.

Thanks for all the comments.

Congrats on the install. Nice numbers so far and hope you get it dailed in to where you can make the 500 rwhp goal.

That is a good start and if you can get the belt to stop slipping you should be able to get your desired B@@ST.

Which SuperCharger are you running with the 3.1" pulley?

Thanks,Matt
