convertable hatch won't open....

convertable hatch won't open....
I went to put the top down today and when I pushed the button under the hatch it won't open. I was able to open it with the emergency cable. Is there a fuse or something I need to check?

Did it beep when you pushed the button?
There is a lock out that prevents the hatch from openning if the trunk is open. It will beep to indicate it is preventing your action and the trunk is open.
Is it possible your trunk is ajar?

There are two things for you to check in the Instrument Panel fuse block (located in the passenger footwell).
1. Mini-Fuse #17 marked TONN REL
2. Micro Relay #41 marked TONN REL
I would check the fuse first - pull it and you should be able to visually determine if the fuse is blown. If not, use a DMM (Digital Multi-Meter) set to Ohms and check the continuity between the terminals. If it checks okay, you can do the same thing with with DMM on the relay.
If neither is the problem, on page 8-1419 of the service manual is a three page diagnostic to determine the problem. But the fuse and the relay are the simple things that you can check first.
