Default Future C5 owner needs help

OK, I'm going to be honest I know C2's and C4's, but not alot yet about C5's. What options were available in 2001-2004 (especially Z06's) What are CAGS and HUD? Can you give me or tell me where to get info that will help me know what to look for and what it means while I'm looking for my next Vette?
Thanks

The CAGS is what makes you shift your manual tranny from 1st to 4th,

HUD stands for Heads Up Display, and it projects your speedometer/tach on the glass. You can switch between pages to see your fuel, oil pressure, temp, and I cant remember what else.

There is standard and sport seats. The sport seats have the hole in the lumbar support.

There is a dual climate controlled gauge.

The Oil Pressure Sending unit seems to go out much more often than you would like.

If you get an automatic A4; then your car might develop the leaky butt syndrome.

The coating from the targa on most coupes has got a tendency to peel.

Why not? It's a pain in the butt. I had it in my C4 also. It was only put in for the feds. It is supposedly helping us get better mileage. I like to shift when I want into what gear I want, that's why I bought a M6.

CAGS - Computer Assisted Gear Selection. The purpose of this was to help the Corvette avoid a gas guzzler tax - and to date, no Corvette has ever been assessed the tax. The upcoming ZR1 will be the first.

CAGS comes into play at low rpm's and can be defeated by plugging in a device into a spot where there is a solenoid. The CAGS bypass fools the computer. But in reality - you can drive right through the 1 to 4 Skip Shift light to a higher rpm and shift into any gear you chose.

The idea is in the right situation, the computer locks out 2nd and 3rd gears, forcing you to shift into 4th. The higher gear you're in as soon as possible will give better fuel economy. I hope that answers the question as to what it is and why some people elect to install the bypass.

Some batteries leak on these cars potentially damaging the wiring under it. Headlight gears tend to break.

The leaky butt is not isolated to the A4.
