This is what necessary to wire your underhood lights to come on when the hood opens.
The factory light housing actually has holes in the backside in the perfect spots. 
It wont work if you just wire the strip into the connector by the radiator shroud. It has to be wired into the stock housing after the position switch. Here is what it takes
I followed the stock wiring route behind the hood pad down to the connector, back up under the upper radiator panel, along the t.b. cooant return hose to the throttle body side
This is how I attached the led strip to the Halltech.

I got the connector at radio shack. $5.A little pricey but works well. I used this led strip.Siliconed it in 3 places and attached it to the clamps at each end.
