i had that crappy k-harness put in by the dealer last year after the column locked up and havent found the time to do the clb. the service column lock message came back on today when i jumped the car after it has been sitting most of the winter. it has a 6month old battery on it and the column doesnt lock it just says service column lock. my question is how do i get rid of the message. any help will be appreciated

Try pulling fuse #25 for ten minutes. Clearing the codes might help as well.
Since you had to jump it to start it, I'd say they first thing is to get the battery fully charged (using a charger) then install the the CLB.
I just skimmed and didn't catch that part about jump starting. Low voltage on the PCM bus caused the condition. Pull the fuse, clear the codes and get the battery charged up - driving helps.
I am still amazed that with ALL the info on this forum, that members will still take their Vette to the dealer for the recall. What part of "it does not work" do they not understand? GM has had multiple recalls on this single issue and has failed to get it fixed. The CLB is the answer. Not the recall and a CLB.
I just got a CLB (Not installed yet), from Corvettes of Houston. I also had my VIN traced thru a bud at a Chev Dealership. That came back as the recall was done. I haven't had any codes show up yet nor have I had any lockup probs.
Anybody think I ought to install the CLB anyway and if so, do I have to uninstall the factory fix first.
Any ideas on this guys? all help is really appreciated!!

You live in BUFFALO and you can't find the 30 minutes it takes to install a CLB From what I've heard about the winter you guys are having, seems like time would not be an issue.
Git-r-dun cause the problem ain't gonna go away on it's own.

Remove the GM recall installed K Harness and install the CLB from Corvettes of Houston in it's place, and you should be good to go.
