Tires for the strip...
Okay guys and gals... I need guidance from you drag racers...
I want a set of rears just for drag racing that'll fit under my non-tubbed Z06.
What size and type/brand do you recommend? I won't necessarily have to use these on the street at all since I can trailer my car to the track, so being street legal isn't an issue.
Thanks everyone!

Re: Tires for the strip... (Bigtoe)
No expert here; but recently took the plunge myself; so here goes.
The choices are drag radials (BFG or Nitto are the favs) or biased ply slicks (MT rules here).
DR come in 17" while the slicks come in 16".
I chose BFG 315x35x17 mounted on 12" wide wheels from CCWheel. My 8 runs on them so far have averaged 1.88 60'; believe they'll do better with some practice. You run stock tires on the front.
The main alternative is the MT ET-Drags or ET-Streets. Both come in 16" and with them, you'll need to run biased-ply fronts to keep the car from getting squirrelly beyond 100 mph. Beside that you need to do some grinding to get the wheels to fit. Wasn't comfortable doing that for warranty reasons. Nonetheless, the MTs will bring better 60' than the DR, all other things being equal.
Lotsa threads and opinions on this topic in the archives.
Here's a link with some details on the fitment of MTs. http://64.49.222.103/forums/showthre...&threadid=7674
