Default front licence plate

Does anyone know a good way to mount front license plate on C5 Corvette other than the factory location. I think the factory location looks like hell. Have to resolve quickly - cops keep buggin me.

My vette used to have this license plate that could hide underneath the front bumper and be pulled out and visable if needed. We don't really need a front plate so I took it off.

No other way....
I see European car mounted licence plate on the right passenger side but I dont think you will drill the bumper to mount licence plate.....
You could mount LC right on the factory location but you can also cover your LC with the c5 licence plate cover ( with velcro attached) to hiding your LP....and Cover can remove instantly.
Here in CA .....I never see Cop try to bother me.....
hope this help....

This is what I do, not a total winner, but it works for me.

If you are in a two plate state this solution actually looks pretty good.

Just did one for my front plate.

That's a pretty good solution. Are you going to apply a rubber molding of some kind to dress up the cut edges?

No cut edges. It a clear acrylic cover with the edges painted from the inside.

I got the idea from Mike Mercury (that's his wife's 50th) and I think he saw it on another forum members car.

OK, cool, I've seen those clear acrylic ones, curved especially for the Vettes front license plates. Some folks have kept them whole and clear. Nice touch painting to match the Vette. If it hasn't yet, this will probably catch on, on the forum.

I own a rental store and 5 or 6 renters are local and state police. I have pictures on counter of my Corvette. They all comment, they are glad to see my front plate. I do not need a reason for them to watch and stop me. I do not mind the look.

I've got a painted license plate surround on mine. I think it looks much better than the stock black surround since I have to run the plate too.

At least the C5 look is infinitely better than the C6 "hang it off the front" look.

Several vendors carry them including Corvette Central and Ecklers. They can be found elsewhere for less $$. I have one and am very pleased with it, unfortunately it is illegal here in the Great State if Illinois!

Just for grins and giggles you should fill out your profile so we'd know where you're from!

Any of the major vendors. Its just a clear license plate cover. I did the same thing on my 2000 C5. It makes having to run a front plate tolerable.

I just bent my plate to the same curve as the bumper. Then I mounted it more or less flush with the front surface of the bumper. Doesn't look too bad. Better than mounting it flat. I was never bothered in California, now I'm in Oregon and drive by the cop shop on my street. I got a couple of looks by them before I mounted the front plate. Oh well.
