I drove out to DTE and had a new Stage 2 3.73 diff and diff strut installed on my car and they lowered it on the stock bolts. They treated me like a VIP the entire time I was at the shop. I was given a full tour of their (Very Clean and Organized) facility and met each member of their team. They took the time to answer any questions I had. I would like to say hello to the entire crew and thanks for the good work. I could not be happier with the new upgrades.
If you drive an A4 and have 2.73 gears CHANGE THEM this mod woke the car up. I drove 230 miles home and lost 1.3 mpg but the fun factor has been increased 10 times.
Welcome to the DTE Powertrain family. I got their LS1 Performance Upgrade package installed exactly two years ago along with a Dynatech Supermaxx LT header system, lowering, tuning and realignment. The "Fun Quotient" when driving the car went up 100%!!
My C5 proudly wears the DTE name on the lower rear bumper (see pic)
My car with mods in progress at DTE...
DTE Customer Appreciation Track Day at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis. DTE customers are invited to spend the day at the track running as many times as you want in a totally relaxed atmosphere (great for the novice). They typically do this in October. I hope to see you there this year!
I'm looking to head back up to DTE soon to get the Differential Strut Brace. Here's my car as it sits now...
First off congrats on a great mod you will love the gears but get ready to buy new rear tires I can not say enough about the treatment you get from Phil, Jenny, and the crew. What impressed me the most about Phil is that I wasn't spending a lot of money compared to most of his customers but he treated me like I was spending a million dollars. That means a lot to someone like me and I will never foget it
Nice wheels Paul! BTW- Give me a call sometime, I have a nice set of nearly-new LS6 T/O heads that you might be interested in that will easily put your car over 400 RWHP- kind of like we did with "danberry's" car.
Thanks for the business too Howard, it was really nice meeting w/ you and chatting about bikes. Slolane (above) is also an avid motorcycle rider from out your way and maybe one day we'll all have to meet up for a ride. I'll either be riding my current Yamaha V Max or that HD Screaming Eagle I showed you I was interested in.
Either way, it ought to be fun and we're glad you made it back safely. Take care!
Regards,
Phil

Hey Phil,
I plan to add one of your highly touted differential strut braces next, although I would love to get the LS6 heads as well. After springing for the new wheels/tires, I need to build up my "C5 mod piggy bank" before another big purchase. Now you got me thinking... I'd also love to upgrade brakes and rotors as well!! Dang Phil! See what you started!!
P.S. Think you could squeeze an LS1 into a Mini Cooper?

Is it RWHP or the interest in a lot of drag race launches that suggests when the strut brace makes sense?

For me it's nothing more than piece of mind. Last year I watched a C5 break an axle at the dragstrip after a bad case of wheel hop. I experienced the same thing on my next two runs and decided that a strut brace was cheap insurance. Plus it just looks cool!
I don't have one yet, but it's designed to reinforce the differential case, not reduce wheel hop. The folks at DTE Powertrain can provide a much more detailed answer I'm sure. Give Phil a call...
