FOB gremlins....please HELP

FOB gremlins....please HELP
FOB quit working...so I replaced the batt...still no go. So I thought it time to order one from Gene Cully, cant seem to program with DIC......(yes I checked the batt) I read on here to push both buttons while at the right rear tire...I did this with the old FOB and the horn honked, all is well...wrong. Next day FOB dead, cant sync with DIC or the rear wheel procedure. Now both FOBs will not sync with DIC 
When I try it, it times out before it will sync. Am I missing something or is my baby playing games? FYI 1998

It appears they last for 5-10 years then die. I wrote to GM about this and the response I got back was to talk to the local parts department. I asked who makes them and what part is failing but it appears they have no interest. The problem that I forsee is that down the road when GM stops supplying them, when the exisiting ones die, owners will not be able to secure their cars.
