My 04 coupe head up display has recently developed an intermitent problem where the image displays all options simultaneously, to the point it is unreadable. When it displays a normal view the intensity will not adjust and it is permanently dim.
Does anyone have experience with this problem?

I've had the same problem only when the sun glares just right onto the HUD through the wind shield. It actually is a common occurrence. Is this what you are talking about or does this happen when you are in the shade or on a cloudy day? - Ron
ok i had a Grand Prix GTP and it had this problem. In the Projector there is an Ambiant Light sensor. The pins that are soldered into the circuit board sometimes go bad. Don't Ask me why but anyway, you pull the pojector take apart the projector(should be some torx screws) and you'll see the sensor, it's round and flat and should be in the area that would actually hav light shining down on it. Take that apart and flip over the circuit board with that ambient light sensor and find where the 2 pins are soldered in. Then you can either resolder the pins(reheat and add a little solder) or you can do what i do and add a small wire from one solder point to the other and solder them together. That's how i fixed my GTP's. I put 35k miles on it after the fix and no problems. Have helped MANY people that i know with HUD in the same fashion. Hope that helps~Cole~
Another thing is the buttons and connector on the switch can cause this if they get dirty. If that's the case, take electrical contact cleaner and clean them up. Really hope i am of some help. I may do this to mine ahead of time when i in do my HUD install on my '98 soi don't have to do it later~Cole~
