i would not buy them from a hardware store.. go to a place that specializes in nuts and bolts. we have a company here in Denver called high strength nut and bolt and they carry any kind of bolt with any grade available....good luck...ed
I believe the oem bolt size is 14mm, but finding an extended length bolt in 14mm is going to be difficult w/o ordering from a specific supplier such as McMASTER-CARR.
Some suggest using a 1/2" hardware store bolt. If that's your choice, keep in mind that a grade 5 hardware store bolt might not be up to the rigors experienced by suspension. They might even be manufactured in China.
Some members have reported adjustment bolt failures in the past, causing damage, spring contact with wheels, ect.
Use no less than a grade 8 bolt. Since a 1/2" bolt comes in fine and coarse threads, I'd suggest using fine thread for better adjusting abilities.
A 9/16" fine thread grade 8 bolt would be even better and stronger, but will be a tighter fit through the oem bushing on the rear.
It's your car to do with as you please.
