I Installed My Yellow Top Battery In The Vette Today Everything Came On But Went To Turn On The Car Nothing ... Then Installed The Fully Charged Ac Delco And Same Thing Has Juice But Nothing When I Go To Crankdont Understand It Just Trailered The Car Week And A Half Ago Installed The Battery All Was Fine Any Ideas???
Hi There,
I would check to see that the battery cables are tight and no corrosion is evident. Next turn the head lights on are they bright? If they don't come up or are dim have the battery load tested at a shop or where you bought it.Just because its fully charged doesn't guarantee the battery will stay or hold it to a fully charged condition under a load test.(start condition)
Any DIC codes being displayed?

Reason: additional info.
Battery Is Completely Charged Everything Works Fine Except Car Doesnt Turn Over No Click Nothing? DROVE THE CAR 1 WEEK AGO INTO THE GARAGE OFF THE TRAILER NO PROBLEMS THIS HAS GOT TO BE SOMETHING SIMPLE
Two likely suspects. Clutch switch-try pushing the clutch all the way to the floor quickly a few times. You may have to short across it if it's bad.
The red wire from the battery to the starter (on the starter side) tightens with a nut. If that nut is loose, corroded, or if the post has gotten hot and charcoaled the post in the starter you'll have to replace the starter. With the clutch in, have someone turn the starter and wiggle the red wire from the battery to the starter. Post what you find.
Hi there,
If you have a volt meter what is the volt meter reading when connected to the battery terminals? With the key on & no accessories on what does it read? The voltage should be constant & not decreasing.
If your vette is a 6 spd. you could bypass the clutch neutral safety switch with a jumper wire & see if it starts. If it starts then the safety switch is bad or the connectors are loose.
I kind of agree with you its something simple like a loose battery cable or a loose ground wire on the frame. What happens when you use the #2 key fob?
Are there any codes being displayed on the DIC?If there are clear them & try to start the car. Note any codes that returned.
I can tell you from what you described that: When you have the clicking sound that means you have 12 volts (battery power) at the starter solenoid which would mean the solenoid is good & you would have a bad starter or loose starter cable. But you don't even have power to the solenoid. So the problem is up stream between the battery & the ignition switch.

Mine did the same thing, The advice I got was make sure the termanals are tight. I said to myself you must think I'm real idiot, Well if the shoe fits!! Thats exactly what it was, they have to be tight .

From one idiot to another (I did the same thing) being too careful not to over tighten the stupid side terminals (next battery I'm switching to '04 battery leads and a top post battery) I know, I know 11 lbs torque (I just can't get my torque wrench in there!) But I will admit, it's one of the more easy C5 fixes I've had to date.
Trust Me On This My Car Has No Battery Leakage My Z06 Is Stellar No Looose Connections OR CORRISION NEVER ON MY CAR... Nothing Thats Why Its So Disturbing.. BATTERY TERMINALS ARE TIGHT THIS IS A VERY WELL CARED FOR Z IMMACULATE

For the third time, did you check the battery cable AT THE STARTER POST. I could give a crap how immaculate your car is. I have a friend with an 03 Z06 with 8K on it and his starter post was corroded inside the starter because the nut was loose and allowing arcing. He replaced the starter and all is well. Go back and read my troubleshooting tip about moving the wire and have someone try to start the car. If you're not interested in trying it, I'm losing interest in trying to help.

I APPRECIATE YOR POSTS OF COURSE . BUT REINSTALLED THE YELLOW TOP AND ALL IS GOOD ... CRANKED RIGHT UP HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM WEIRD ... BOTTOM LINE I APPRECIATE EVERYONES INPUT AS ALWAYS AGAIN I WILL REPEAT I ALWAYS APPRECIATE EVERYONES INPUT AND HAVE ALWAYS GIVEN ME A FIX IN BAD SITUATIONS AGAIN KUDOS GUYS THANKS!!!!WHEN I SAY MY CAR IS IMMACULATE THAT DOESNT MEAN ONLY FROM THE OUTSIDE VISUAL
BUT IN MY OPINION IT MEANS THE WHOLE VEHICLE FROM INSIDE OUT ALL I WAS TRYING TO COMMUNICATE IS MY CAR IS CLEAN LIKE WINDEX THROUGH AND THROUGH INSIDE OUT INTERIOR MOTOR AREA AND WHATEVER IS LEFT CORRISION NOT GONNA HAPPEN
In electrical connection, corrosion occurs because of arcing between two loose points. Cleanliness is not the issue. Your car could be kept in a jar and it could still corrode in an electrical connection. When it doesn't start again, please try wiggling the post on the starter when you're having someone try to start it and post when it happens. It will be intermittent. Surely you don't believe that you put in two batteries with the same problem, then reinstalled one of them and suddenly it worked. Let us know. We really are trying to help.
