Doing a little car maintenance and tire pressure is on the things to do list. A simple question that may not be that simple, when do you measure the pressure. Should the tires be warm or should the tires be cold?
I agree that cold is the correct way to measure pressure. Just wanted to share an experence I had last Wed. when checking my truck tires before a 1000 mi trip. It was 50 deg. outside and very sunny. I checked the tires on the north side ( shady) of the truck which had set out all night and they were the recommended 35 psi which is what I keep them at. Went to the south side ( sunny) and they were at 38psi for both front and back. I left them alone assuming that the direct sun light on them had increased the pressure by the 3 psi.
30 psi cold. And do not let the air out if the pressure goes up when you are driving. As the tire gets warmer, the air pressure will increase and that is normal.
