If anyone is planning on installing the MSD coil Packs PN8245 just FYI its not just a bolt on quickie install as most people explain it to be.
On the existing coil rail, they don't exactly fit really great.
Alternator side:
The first pack tioards the front of the car you can't get at the bolt because of the alternator. Suggesting it to pull the entire pack bracket off the valve cover (pull all wires first) and then swap the packs onto the bracket sitting at a table. Pack location #2 will not fit the bracket at all. You need to get 2 washers (one flat and one lock washer) and then goto the auto parts store and get a 6mm x 25mm bolt x2 for this pack. Problem solved... except you lose the bottom prong for the valvue covers to click onto.
Passenger side:
Same thing, better to remove the whole bracket. The 3rd wire (from the front) is pretty short and very difficult to get into the pack and mounted. This is also the pack that will require the offset washer trick to get mounted.
Hope that helps. You will also need a deep socket metric 10 for this job.
OK, had the coils on a few days. I know its no HP difference, but I will say there are a few things I did notice. Since I actual Drive my car I do not have to let her warm up as much to drive in the fridgid cold. In cold starts prior to this upgrade, the car ran rough until at least the oil temp hit 60 to 70F, and really only felt good in the 120 to 140 range... I can cold start and drive at just over freezing now with no rough idle feel. That alone makes the upgrade worth it for us poor bastards in the NE of the sountry :-)
