I coming home last night through the neighborhood and a kid waves me down so I stop. He asked me if I had a cam and I smiled and said yes, then he asked me how much HP I had, told him. He says "show us what it will do and I said no , I cant do that here and he says come on just a little. LOL , so I spun a tad for him. Kid was about 10 or 12 I guess, I drove down that street a lot and I guess he has seen me before. Maybe a future vette guy. Made me smile the rest of the way home !
Good for you. Many would have blown him off because he was "just a kid." But, that's how many of us started. I've been a car fanatic since I was old enough to walk, driving <pushing> many a car across our living room rug!!!
"THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MEN AND BOYS IS THE COST OF THEIR TOYS"
Had a similar story ,right after we bought our shark about ten yrs ago.We pulled into a Sonic Drive In where they have car hop service and tables in the big center island. We parked next to a huge old Suburban with just a little of the nose poking out past it.Had only been there for a minute or so when a young boy about 10 or so came running down the line, slides to a stop just past the suburban and shouts OOOOH WOW!! as he looks up and down the car. Just as quickly as he appeared he turned and ran back and rejoined his family at a table.Made our day,,I told the wife ,maybe there's hope for the younger generation yet..
His dad or some other significant male influence in his life must be a car guy!
You know Coz, I would have thought the same thing until I meet my friend's mom. She could pull a small block out of a car, rebuild it and have it back in the car in a weekend. Needless to say, she didn't mind getting a little grease under her fingernails!
That's awesome! He's gonna be a gearhead for sure when he grows up.
Kids definately love vettes. I was at the local farmers market, parking my vette. A family walks by, the youngest kid (7 or 8) stops near the rear of the vette, and is just staring down towards the exhaust. His dad was like," What's up son?" He looks up as his dad and says," Looks at all the pipes, that's cool!!!"
