Default LED Mod Question

So I know that’s there’s a LED interior mod post already but it’s like 40 pages and is more about the technical aspect of it now…

What I’m curious about is this: I just finished changing out my bulbs in trunk, map, and floors with led’s. I love them all except the floor isn’t as bright as I thought. I believe the problem lies in the fact that the led’s(6 in a cluster pattern) are shining more straight the down as the floor bulb is mounting horizontally rather than vertically. Has anyone found a superwhite led bulb that faces more down??

Thanks!

I was actually going to do some work on mine when I pull it out of mothballs... nascar57 installed some super bright spotlights under his dash that turned out great! He used a holesaw and drilled a large enough hole to fit the spotlight into.

I was going to redirect the light with something reflective and easy. Heck maybe even some aluminum foil would do!

BTW This would've been a perfect post for that Thread...

Thanks for replying! I didn't think about foil..that would reflect the light down better you think?

I'll post this in the thread!

It worked really good in my Radio, there were alot of cold spots and I cut little foil relector disks that bounced the light back up unto the white reflector and that solved all the inconsistant lighting issues with it... I did it only as an experiment but it worked so damn good I kept em in there!

We'll see what happens on the other thread with George...
But the only way I see the foil working is if I put the piece directly in front of the bulb so that it pushes more light back and hopefully down...?

I was going to slope it at an angle directing it to the diffuser plate.

Cool! Let me know how it works out. If it works as well as I think it will, I'll TRY and make something better with polished aluminum, and send you some too.

I posted a reply in the big interior LED thread with what I did in my car. If I remember tonight I will post a picture of how my foot wells look.

Here are the pics I promised of the LED modules I used for the foot wells and trunk.

Gary

Here you get a good idea of how these light the foot wells. This is a single 1w LED module installed in each foot well.

Here is a close up of the foot well.

This is the LED module mounted in the trunk.

The picture makes them look brighter than they are.

I opted to go with the Oznium Twenty Five Red Led Dome Lights in mine. Cut the square holes to fit in the plastic knee panels and glued the light pods in. These are also very bright LED's.. .. They turn my black carpet & mats completely red, as seen in the last pic below....

These are the flood leds I used.http://www.oznium.com/high-intensity-led-floodlight
The results speak for themselves!

This thread shows how easy it is!

I'm not sure it could be any easier or cleaner

Thanks "nascar57", and "Z06 JIM", those will be cool in my Street Rod project car, just what I was looking for as far as interior lighting!

So that directed the LED beam well enough? OK I'll make up some reflectors once I get mine out of storage...
