sanding/paint
Having two sons in college, money tight, I need to have my bumper and middle section of hood (the dreaded spider cracks) fixed. If I take my time
I'm sure I can sand both parts, and have the body shop do the painting.
Does any one know what a good grit of sand paper to start with is, and then which to finish with?

Check with the body shop that is going to be doing the painting, they know what they are looking for prep wise. Trusting someone else could be a mistake. I would suggest doing as much prep as you can but leave the block sanding to the shop so the can see any areas that may need a little attention. Good luck with the paint job.
