My 2001 c5 has 77K on it. Should I sell it now for maximum value and buy a newer one with lower miles? Someone told me after 80K, c5 value goes downhill quickly.

Personally,I'd keep it.77k the car hasn't even been broke in yet.
If you're really wanting to get the most $$$ then obviously, you'd
want to sell it reasonably soon.Mileage for a high-end cars is more
of a factor than other vehicles.
If you're happy with the car and you have no problems,I really
can't justify switching to another C5,unless you don't like the
color and options.A C5 is not an investment and will lose value
no matter what year and mileage, they haven't bottomed out yet.
Good Luck!!!
I paid $44K for my '99 in October '98. It had 31 miles on the odometer at the time. Today, nine and a half years later, its value is down to around $12K, even with its 307K miles on it and it still runs like a new car. Something to think about.
The car isn't worth over 20K in resale now anyway. Like the above poster proved, these things can go forever. Just keep it clean and it will always look new! Enjoy it!
Other then the desire to have the latest and greatest, if there is nothing wrong with the car, and you still enjoy it why sell? Are you not happy with the car anymore? Bored with it? Unless I just wanted a new car, 77K or even 177K mileage would not make me want to sell it.
Let's see - my chasis has 48k on it but my engine, rear, suspension, brakes, clutch, torque tube, seats, dash, sound system, wheels and tires etc, TS nose, spoiler, side skirts, MCM hood, etc, etc, all have less than 10k on them. I still cleans up looking like it just came out of the showroom...And it's free.
By the time you sell it, buy a new one, pay tax and licensing fees, mod it to your tastes, etc, plus maybe find a few issues with the new one that need to be resolved, are you really going to save any money? I bet it costs you more than any depreciation you lose on the old one. Keep it and enjoy it. You're in the low-cost miles now...
Besides, the new one is just going to depreciate, too.

This is good advice because these cars can go for a long time. If want something newer or different, then sell it but with the market the way it is right now, you probably won't get as much as your thinking you'll get.

Mine has 84K and you could never tell by looking at it (inside or out) If you want a different car deal it , but your not going to get much more for it if it has 77K or 85K. I think somebodys looking for a new ride!!!
Along the same note, is there a specific mileage you should be below before you start modding the motor? I understand a 100k mile car won't take heads and a cam as comfortably as a 20k mile car, but is it a possible issue? F/I?
120K miles on my wife's '01 Vert.
We didn't put the headers on until it was finally broken in at 100K miles.
I have offered to buy her a newer one ... she says why? it runs great, looks great....

I never thought about the $2,000+ tax, reg and license, inspection.... thanks for the heads up.
