Headed to San Antonio Raceway this evening to run my 04 A4 Coupe. I'm getting ready to install my 3.42's in about three weeks so I want to make some runs with the 2.73's to set a baseline ET. The weather is clear and cool here in San Antonio today so the car ought to run well. I'm hoping for something between 13 flat and 13.50's. Will post an update tomorrow with 60 foot times, ET's and trap speeds. Wish me luck.
Best pass was a 13.37 @ 105.34 mph. Worst time was 13.77 @ 103.9 mph. 60 ft times dropped off which indicates a possible traction problem. I'm running Kumho runflats. Temps dropped from the time we got to the track so I'm going to assume traction was the culprit. I believe this to be true since they hadn't sprayed the burnout area with water early on and did on the subsequent passes. Water and runflats don't make for a decent combination. Overall though, I'm good with the results because they're indicative of what the car should run with the gears it has. The 3.42's and the tune will probably drop a half second off the ET. Stay tuned. Excuse the pun.

Your first time of 13.37 is not bad for stock, but you should get some drag radials, you will have major traction issues with the 3.42's, I do
You will definately have traction issues! I put 3.73's in my car and had to use the traction control to keep from spinning my kumhos.(went 12.80 with a 1.8 60')GOOD LUCK.
The launches sucked; could never get below 2.0 60' times. And that's the key to get into the 12's... 60' times below 2.0.
After my 3.42 upgrade and Predator tweaks... I actually made it into the 12's with a fluke 12.9x run; 60' was 1.9x. But other than that one fluke run, all others had been 13.0x
After my TC upgrade; all runs are now in the 12's and 60' times have reached into the 1.8x range. All this still running factory run-flats.

Hey Tim,
What's up? Question for you. What was your launch technique with stock gears and TC? Did you run the RPM's up or did you just nail it from idle? And if you don't mind me asking, which converter are you using now?

powerbreaking. The highest RPM I could hold was 1300-1400 with the stock converter.
With the new converter, I can now hold at 1900. Makes a difference in the 60' times
Man Tim, you just made me spend more money. Called next door to our Chevy parts department and got this converter coming. Now I just have to have enough restraint not to call American Racing and order headers and an X-pipe.
