I was planniong on getting a 02-04 c5 z06 shortly after i graduate in december. what concerns me is that i currently work on the weekends as a car detailer and my paint is very important to me. I have noticed that plastic does not fair very well, My mom's 03 murano has about 60K miles and the front is pitted badly, not just rock chips or bug impressions, but dents in the paint and plastic. I also have the front plate filler off an 02 vette with 50K miles and it seems badly pitted.
So my question is how bad can i expect it to be on a car with 20-40 K miles? also would it be just the bumper or like the hood and front fenders and would it be hard to match if i got those parts painted? thanks

Unfortunately, the C5 is subject to rock chips on the front cowl. It depends on the amount of highway miles that are on it. I also notice it on the leading edge of the mirrors, too. I bought my wife's 01 with 42K on it and will be repainting the nose and mirrors in a couple of weeks because they look like the outside of a golf ball. I have had my 99 nose repainted at 29K (now has 42K) and may need it again at the end of this season. It usually runs about $500 including the mirrors.

I installed the 3M clear bra on all the typical rock chip places back when my C5 was almost new. 35,000 miles later (and I live on a dirt road. ), my car has 0 chips anywhere. I am going to put it on my new to us, low mileage Insight as soon as the weather warms up. It cost me $285 shipped for a FULL custom cut kit plus enough to do the rockers and new side skirts that I just bought for the Vette. It's a must have to me.
thanks for the info, my neighbor has a 03 vert cormemorative edition and he said he might be interested in selling in the next year. he has about 12K on it, it is nice and the nose isn't too bad, but there is a place on the rocker where he scraped a curb. Is it expensive to replace that part?
