Default Going Lower

My car has been lowered all the way on the stock bolts, but me thinks I'd like to go just a little lower. Can someone tell me what size bolts to get for front and rear. I'd like to get the best bolts I can from a specialty fastner manufacturer.

Thanks

no need to buy any bolts. you can cut the bushings to get lower.

OR you could opt for the C5 rear lowering kit and buy C6 front bolts. But, be prepared....if you go much lower than stock bolts you will want suspension changes - Bilsteins or CoilOvers, etc Oh, and perhaps fat daddys and rocker panel protectors, etc.

How do you judge how much of the bushing to cut?

If you go lower than the stock bolts, do you have to change the shocks? I'd just like to go about 1/2" lower than the stock bolts will allow. I already have rocker rails and frame savers to install

I cant speak from direct experience, just from what I've heard/learned. I feel that if I went any lower than mine is now that I would be looking into shocks. My ride is still good, but definitely harsher/different than stock....not tons, but if lowered more, I bet yes.

you will need shorter shocks. I cut half the rubber off my front bushings and 1" of rubber off each side in the rear. (kept the stock bolts) the OEM shocks had no travel left in them.

You can purchase C5 & C6 front lowering bolts from West Coast corvettes. The front bolt they sell basically has no bushing but has a protective rubber end to protect your cars lower arm.

Here is my car first lowered on just stock rear bolts then with front and rear lowering bolts. I just got mine a few weeks ago and they work well fro both front and rear was around $59.

For the rear, buy 9/16 x 8" grade 8 bolts. don't cut the rear bushings.

Lowered mine on stock bolts in the rear and C6 lowering bolts in front. Check sig for picture. Didn't have to replace shocks, but put some C6Z shocks in the rear with no problems.
