I can't figure out how to paste a picture (*.jpg) into the text box. I have a couple of pictures if someone would let me in on the secret.

Mitch - you can't paste a picture into the text box. You have to upload them to a web site, and then reference the location (full web address including file name) in the message text. Below the text as you're entering your message, you'll see a button labled "Image." Click that and it will insert a set of image "tags." Put the location of your file between the tags.

When I started this thread, I never expected the in depth reviews. This is some of the best stuff Ive ever read on the forum. Thanks to everyone who took the extra time. I think maybe its time for a test drive. I have an 85 308 that is ready to be traded for an upgrade!!

can somebody post some pics of these ferraris please?
Ok, well this one was mine ... I actually miss it for all the reasons mentioned above. With the 'vette I hope to get round corners, with the F355 I KNEW I'd get around corners!!

Finally, the real reason to own a Ferrari is the look of the car, pure automotive art. I often walk out to the garage just to gaze at its increadible lines and style.
 I have to admit, I used to do that too... :jester

Comparing a Ferrari to a corvette is like comparing gold against plastic. There
simply is NO comparing the two.If the 355 and any corvette were parked side
by side,I promise you NO ONE would look at the corvette.

Damn you guys! You're gonna make me put a 328 back on my "possible" list if you keep this up!!

If Chevy designer & engineers are allotted the budget that Ferrari gave theirs, CAN the Chevy people come up with a "Ferrari"?? .......But what if, just what if, Chevy people had more $ to spend? Or is it an American thing?
I'm not sure what you're asking? Are you saying that Americans are incapable of creating cars with passion and style? I think Ford actually answered that question a number of years ago with the GT40 anyway. If you don't know the answer was "yes". :D Perhaps I'll answer this in another way. A lot of what people like about Ferraris are intangibles, words like "passion", "feeling", "soul", and "sexy" are common. If Chevy was given the budget of a Ferrari I have no doubt they would come up with something great (just look what they give you for $50k!) but it wouldn't be a carbon copy of a Ferrari. Who'd want that anyway? It would be different, not better not worse, just different. Maybe this is more what you were asking? LOL, re-reading what I wrote I seem to contradict myself. Oh well, it wouldn't be the first time I've won and lost a debate with myself. Note to self: Sleep. Get more sleep.

Let's face it, no honest, intelligent person thinks a Vette can compete with a Ferrari (at least on the terms discussed in this thread). Then again, no other $50,000 car can either, not even if it were made in Italy! :D

I think the two most important things on this thread are:

1)The whole "intangible" aspect of a Ferrari, as well how we've talked about the importance of *how* you get around the track, and how it's not all just about numbers. I really enjoyed reading you guys' takes on that. It's nice to see people actually acknowledge that for a chance, rather than just dismiss the car as an "overpriced exotic" (which to me screams "vendetta" or something....hahaha)

2) How it is true that the Vette and F355 aren't really comparable on most terms (they're just so different); but at the same time, there's really not anything that can give the world class performance and style of a Vette for the money (be it from Italy, Germany, or the USA.....you name it......there's really nothing in it's class that can touch it). Hell, the Z06 was whipping up on the 996 911 Turbo. I mean that is *INCREDIBLE* to me. I never really thought I'd see the Vette acheiving that kind of feat. Wonder how the coupe would fair against it? Anyway, I think you get the picture. :)

This thread has been lots of fun to read! :yesnod: :D

Seems to me the Z06 best compares to Ferrari's $225,000 550 Marenello Coupe. Both are front engine coupes with V-8 or V-12 engines. The biggest difference (apart from price) is that the Vette kicks the 550's butt through the 1/4! Of course the 550 has about 20 MPH over the Vette in top speed, and while you show up in the Vette, your arrive in the Ferrari.

Depends on who's driving. I've seen SEVERAL 550's turn 117mph in the 1/4 mile (totally stock). ET be damned....that mph shows what the car is truly capable of. That is a SMOKING mph.

On this basis, would I rather have a 550 Maranello for performance vs. a '02 Z06???

Let me think about this for a nano second.... duh. I'll take Enzo's offering thank you. :boxing :D

Oh, and I think you'll find most 550 owners really could care less about 1/4 mile times & elapsed speed. Sure, they're great for bragging rights at the bar but when you are looking at these types of comparisons they are completely irrelevant.

I love my Z06 too but let's not get carried away with ourselves here ...

(maybe I just don't get the 1/4 mile fascination ... I just like driving the thing!)

This is been one of the best threads I've read in awhile. I really enjoy these types of posts. I can't wait to get a ride in a Ferrari. We need to have another thread comparing Lambo's and other exotics. Watching the A&E biography on Enzo gave me such an appreciation for Ferrari.

In my opinion, Ferrari makes the worlds most incredible cars. You get an amazing feeling from the moment you sit in seat. Ive owned a couple of Lotus' also and theyre really is no comparison. I had a 2001 Twin Turbo V8 and I can tell you the Lotus motor is nice but has no feeling. The Renault gearbox was more fit for a car that cost much less. The clutch and brake pedals were for midgets or guys who wear little booties. You can see right away why these things depreciate so fast. I bought my 308 in 1993 and its still worth exactly the same dollars. When the right deal comes up a 355 will be mine. If I dont find the right deal, Im getting one anyway!!

I wave at any really nice exotic. Hell, recently I about fell out of my car giving the thumbs up to a guy in a gorgeous black Z-8. If I ever see you in a Ferrari, I'll promise to wave if you'll stop and give me a ride.

Hey Mobil, did you say that you have an 85 308? I always thought the 308 Q-valve cars would make a nice Ferrari to own. I driven my Dad's 77 308 GTB quite a bit and like it, but passing emissions is always a hassle with the carburated car.

How many miles are on your car now, and when you bought it? One of these years, I could be interested in getting a mid 80's Ferrari as more of a 'driver'.
