Default C5 Too Low.... Help!

Ok, so this may sound white trash, but last year I ended up cutting the front bolts out of the leaf spring and left the remains of the bolt inside...there was no getting this bolt out (completely rusted in, and worse case scenario I would just buy a new leaf spring). Anyways spring has come and evidently my car is too low to pass inspection, being that It cant even go on a lift, and the headlights aren't at certain height. I need to know if anyone has ideas as far as raising the front end back up for one day. would sticking a puck or something between the arm and spring work????? I figure the force of the spring pushing down on the arm would be enough pressure to hold it in for a ride to the inspection shop and back??? Thanks for any advice, just trying to seek other options then buying a new spring because I like the car how low it is anyway.

I'm curious - what part of the country mandates ride height? You have no information in your profile.

Sticking something between the upper control arm and the spring can't be very safe....I think if you really have to adjust ride height, you may have to bite the bullet and buy a spring.

well I live in New Hampshire, but the problem is id rather not spend 600 to raise my car for a couple hours. theres gotta be some way I can jimmy rig it, all there is that keeps the car at stock height is a bolt with a rubber bushing on it. The force of the spring pushing down on the bolt makes it so it wont come loose, So wouldn't that force be enough to hold an object in there for a ride to the inspection shop and back? Just would like to get a second opinion by someone who knows a lot about the suspension on the c5 before I actually risk it, i guess the worse that could happen is it comes out and that side of the car lowers itself...right?

I agree with you that you'd be able to stick something in there for the ride
I doubt it will come out with all of that force on it
wait until someone that is knowledgable replies here

Just to get through inspection (NJ has the same statutes that you mention, Headlight height to ground, License plate to ground, etc.) I would do exactly what you're thinking. I would think a hockey puck in both sides should do the trick. Good luck (State inspection sucks) post your results.

Just be sure not to hit any bumps hard enough to allow the car to rebound enough to let the puck slide out.

Put a hockey puck on each side, do you have access to a trailer. If so, trailer close to inspection area and unload in a parking lot close by. Then you don't have to worry about the pucks coming out.

I doubt the pucks would pop out, you have the whole weight of the front of the car pushing down on it. just dont do any dukes of hazzard jumps on the way and you will be fine!

So if they claim your vette is to low how does a vehicle such as a Lambo Gallardo or Murciellago pass? That kind of sucks to have to get the car inspected lol
