They can be a bit noisy at times, and they are too stiff for some people, but the are a big upgrade from stock as far as precision. I like the fact it has adjustable stops, so you can't strong arm the transmission forks. I am going to try an 07 Z06 shifter however in mine instead of the Hurst that I have in there now, just to see if I like it better.

Interesting... I would like to find out more on the newer Z06 shifter...

I agree. I actually had a Hurst Billet/Plus shifter in my car and also switched to the C6 ZO6 shifter. I liked the Hurst a lot when it came to cruising around as it was very precise. I switched to the C6 ZO6 shifter because I felt that I could shift a lot faster with it, when driving aggressively, than with the Hurst. They are both great shifters. Just do a search for "C6 shifter" or "C6 ZO6 shifter" in the General C5 section and you will find tons of information. A lot of members have been saying a lot of positive things about the new MGW shifter so you might want to check that out too
The 1st thing I did was to shorten the stock shifter. I heard good feedback on the forum about this mod, and felt that since it cost nothing, it made sense to try it first. There are 2 methods:
1) Cut an inck or so off the top and add additional treads for the ****.
2) Disassemble it and cut 1 and 1/8th off the bottom off the handle and remove the rubber damper.
I followed the last method. This method not only shortens the throws considerably, but gives it a more positve feel. It also gives me the advantage of shortening it even more in the future by following method 1.
I still haven't driven mine after making this mod, but it feels nice on a dry run. If I don't like it, I can still replace it with an after market shifter.
There are several threads about this mod, so you can probably find one through a search. If you can't, pm me and I will find the instructions I followed for you.
Put a Hurst in my 04 Z06, and still like it.
They can all be difficult to get into reverse, but I think it is more the transmission design than the shifter.
I find that if I go to 4th gear, it lines things up so it goes into reverse more easily.
My Hurst shifter was in when I purchased my 99 six years ago and I drove several others with a stock shifter and the Hurst is so much better and it seems to work great even in my twin disk setup
Installed a Hurst Shifter with the light springs over three years ago and am still very happy with it. The shifts are short and percise, have had driving instructors from Drivers Edge drive the car had had very positive comments from them on how the car shifts. Hurst has been in business for a long time and builds a quality product
